Newsletter December 2025

Well, this will be our last Newsletter of this year.

Welcome to our new members Alan & Michael.

I’m thinking we can all congratulate ourselves on surviving and ending up still solvent with some sort of a roof over our heads!  There is still a toilet between us and the new Art Gallery. We will have a new window display in the New Year and show off all our wonderful Works of Art.

Between now and the first few weeks in January we hope to have new storage cupboards up on the wall and overall making the Shed a bit more organised and dust-free. Cupboards and drawers will have signs so that we all hopefully know where to find things without going on a 15-minute hunt the bear competition!!!

CHRISTMAS FAIR

Everyone worked so hard to produce the items for the Christmas Fair and what a wonderful amount was raised. Now the final total is £427.00 [two aftersales of £45.]

Thank you to each and every one who helped on the day.

NEXT YEAR PLANNING

It is hoped that by the early part of January the Shed will be rearranged and tidy ready to start the new year.  There will be a plan of things to choose from to make, should you wish to. We have orders for Chairs and Wild Wood have commissioned some boxes for their project in Brighton. Also the cat houses are proving popular, so I think there are at least 2 of those on order.

YEARLY FEE will be due by the last day of January, at present this is £20.

AGM DETAILS

Date: Friday 16th January

Time: 2 pm

Venue: The Veterans Centre. 2 Surrey Gardens. Birchington CT7 7SA

COMMITTEE MEMBERS will stand down and then be re-elected on that date. Please pass nominations to John.

Hopefully an Agenda will be sent out via email to all Shedders by 16th December.

LADIES WORKSHOP

The next is on Thursday 4th December in the Veterans Centre. This is now fully booked.

It is hoped that these will continue in the next few months, some at the Shed and others in different venues. This attracts ladies who might not feel comfortable in the Shed environment. It also brings in around £50 per session profit for the Shed.

The ideas of workshops have been quite successful, and we will be offering different courses in 2026 for men and women. Computing will be back.

CHRISTMAS MEAL

Thank you for all your choices and cash, being in on time. The deposit is now paid and all we do now is to make sure we all have a fantastic lunch together. The Powell have been very helpful, and we are confident of a warm welcome and great food. There will be cards on the table with your name and the choices that you made.

There will be a lucky dip present gifted at the end of the meal. Feel free to dress festively… might be the only chance John gets to wear his elf outfit !!!!!

CHRISTMAS SEND-OFF

On Tuesday 23rd December there will be a gathering in the Shed with non-alcoholic mulled wine and mince pies, from 12 noon. Hoping you all might be able to come.

Thank you all again for a wonderful year in our Shed.
