NEWSLETTER

Thank you for all your complimentary messages about the last newsletter… just pleased it was of interest to all you Shedders.

Chris one of our Monday Shedders and committee member has kindly contributed to our Sheds newsletter this month, with the following.

WOODEN GARDEN ITEMS

Wooden garden items are being made by the wood working shedders to sell at the Secret Garden, garden Centre on Saturday 29th March 2025, such as planting troughs and a circular herb planter. It is hoped that the sale of these items will be of mutual benefit both to the funds of the shed and revenue for the garden centre who can sell herbs, all the plants and compost to go in meat wooden planters. A large reclining wooden lounger chair coma primed in white has also been made to sell

OPEN DAY

On Saturday the 19th of April from 10:00 AM two 4:00 PM the man shed will be hosting an open day at unit 13 Croft village quick spark Park Lane Birchington CT 7 0 BH why not come along and see what we get up to.

COMMISSIONS

Commissions such as repairing trinket boxes and the recent making of another library box have been undertaken.

QUIET MORNINGS

Not forgetting our quiet morning where woodworking does not take place until the afternoon. Much enjoyment and camaraderie takes place with a model train enthusiasts with more than one layout. There are still places available for new shaders to undertake such hobbies as marquetry, model making and glass engraving to name a few so come along anybody who wishes to take part in these activities and learn new skills we look forward to seeing new faces on Monday mornings.

WILD WOOD

We have been approached by Wild Wood in Herne, near Canterbury to make Squirrel Houses. They have provided and delivered all the necessary equipment and work is now underway in producing our first one. They have also offered all the Shedders the opportunity to visit, which I’m hoping, once the better weather arrives, we will be able to arrange a day out for us all.

DONATIONS

We have received donations of a chest of drawers and new electric hand tools. Dawn Dell has also donated some of Steves wood for us to finish turning, which was gratefully accepted.

BROADSTAIRS TOWN SHED VISIT

Penny has visited Broadstairs Town Shed and met with Ramsgate Town and Sandwich Sheds to help each other with our various funding and set up queries. They have been so supportive, and it is very much appreciated.

BIRCHINGTON CiC GRANT

Delighted to say that we have received a grant from Birchington CiC for £250 to purchase stacking stools for the Shed. This will make it easier for those wishing to sit at the work bench and helpful for use in the forthcoming workshops. Stacking when not in use will free up a lot of floor space too.

SECRET GARDEN SALE

Thank you all for your hard work involved in producing items for our sale at the Secret Garden on 29.03.25 If you can offer an hour or so to help on the day it really would be appreciated.

Our plan is to just have 2 sales one in March at Secret Garden and November in the Centre like last year. Along with our Open Day and participating in Birchington Active Leisure, I’m sure this will be enough for us to cope with!

SOCIAL EVENTS

Socially we are going to have a Bat & Trap game with the WI, Wild Wood outing and our Christmas meal. Dates all to be arranged. If you have an ideas for a social day / evening please let us know. The Veterans Centre have also shared their outings and a copy is on the notice board.
